Vintage cherry wood shaker box by Hatchet Mt. Woodworks, featuring intricate freehand pyrography by Mary Theresa Klotz of Forestheart Woodburning. This large oval box showcases a beautiful vertical tulip or floral motif burnt into the wood, a technique known as «fire writing.» Completed in July 1984, the piece is finished with oil/shellac to highlight the natural grain of the cherry wood, which has mellowed into a rich, warm tone over time. The lid fits securely, and the interior is stamped with the maker’s mark. A stunning example of collaborative American folk art craftsmanship.
