Neon Sign Sketches: Miscellaneous Designs (Collection of 25 Pieces) DESCRIPTION Turns out our 100-year-old building – now a music store – used to house a neon sign factory! Recently, we discovered several discretely stored boxes of hand-drawn sketches used to create and construct neon signs for businesses in and around the Topeka, Kansas area during the 1980s and 90s. Drawn on a variety of paper types and sizes (approximate dimensions are noted on each photo), this particular collection of 25 sketches includes many mix-and-match miscellaneous designs from phone numbers and addresses to names and graphic symbols. Note that some of the designs read forward and others read backward, depending on how the finished product was meant to be viewed. Please keep in mind that these sketches were not stored with a great deal of care, and as a result, they are quite fragile with widely varying conditions. Most of them have  some type of noticeable damage, including tears, burn marks, taped repairs, creases, folds, and holes. That said, with a little TLC and possibly some professional framing, these would look super funky fantastic in a loft apartment, a retro bar or restaurant, a downtown office space, or even a historic exhibit!
