This is a handsome large horizontal wall tapestry which was made in France but purchased in Italy around 1961. It measures 62″ by 28″. It depicts an elegant concert around 1715 during the time of France’s Louis XV’s reign. It has never been hung. Its coloring is very vivid and there is intricate detailing in the picture showing the lady of the house and her attendants in full elegant dresses. The detail of the musicians is excellent too as is the room the concert is being held in. While the selvages are finished so they don’t unravel, the tapestry needs to be either framed or trimmed so it can be hung.
