Handmade ikat tapestry from Sumba Island in Indonesia, collected in 1982, possibly made earlier. Woven of cotton on backstrap loom, with indigo and vegetal dyes in traditional colors, this piece contains typical animal and human motifs in a distinctly erotic representation. Size: 40" x 16.5" plus fringe made of warp threads. Top fringe is knotted for ease of hanging for display.
